2023 - Round 8 Results - A Box of Favourites

The MoS trio are still in the Top 3 spots on probability prediction, have returned to the Top 3 spots on margin prediction, but hold only the Top 2 spots on head-to-head tipping after MoSHPlay_Marg bagged only 8 from 9 in a round where all nine early market bookmaker favourites prevailed.

On head-to-head tipping, MoSHBODS_Marg still leads MoSSBODS_Marg by a single tip, but had its margin to Bookie Knows Best reduced by one tip to three.

The all-Tipster average for the round was 8.2 from 9 and, for the season, it now stands at 47.6 from 72 (66%).

The Margin Predictors’ mean absolute errors (MAEs) were all very low this week, in part assisted by the lack of underdog victors. Those MAEs covered a range from MoSHBODS_Marg’s 13.8 points per game to ENS_Linear’s 16.3 points per game, with the all-Predictor average coming in at 15.1 points per game per Predictor, down almost 13 points per game on the Round 7 figure.

MoSHPlay_Marg’s performance was, again, enough to keep it in 1st place on the Leaderboard ahead of MoSSBODS_Marg, with MoSHBODS_Marg taking 3rd spot. The gap between the three of them is less than a goal.

A little further down the table, Bookie_9 and Bookie_Hcap rose at Bookie_3’s expense.

Log probability scores were all at or close to season highs this week with the best belonging to Bookie_RE and Bookie_LPSO, just slightly ahead of MoSHPlay_Prob, who slipped into 2nd behind MoSSBODS_Prob.

WAGERING

Investors’ losing streak extended to two this week, as the profitability of both the Line and Overs/Unders Funds could not quite, combined, wipe out the loss imposed by an 0 and 2 performance from the Head-to-Head Fund.

Overall, the Combined Portfolio fell by 0.4c, leaving it up 7c on the season, that from a 19% ROT on an 0.37 turn.
