2016 - Round 22 Results - Some End of Season Form

A much better showing by MoSSBODS this week helped the Head-to-Head Fund land 2 from 3, and the Unders/Overs and Line Funds each land 3 from 4, and was enough to lift the Overall Portfolio by 3.3c across the weekend. It's now up by 14.7c on the season.

The result could have been better still but for a last-gasp goal from the Cats that sunk the fourth and final line bet by half a point.

The Head-to-Head Fund's 4c gain this week leaves it down now by less than 6c on the season and offers reasonable hope that the Fund might yet end the year at least at break-even, a result that looked highly unlikely after Round 19.

TIPS AND PREDICTIONS

The ChiPS-based forecasters had a mixed weekend, C_Marg typing a league-high 8 from 9 winners but recording one of the worst mean absolute errors (MAEs).

All of the other Head-to-Head Tipsters except Home Sweet Home correctly selected 7 winners, which left MoSSBODS_Marg at the top of the table on 141/189 (75%), still one tip clear of BKB. The all-Tipster average was 6.8 from 9.

Best for the Margin Predictors was RSMP_Weighted whose 19.1 points per game MAE was more than two-and-a-half points better than the all-Predictor average of 21.7 points per game. The league-leading Bookie_LPSO recorded a 21.0 MAE and now heads RSMP_Simple by just over 4 goals.

RSMP_Weighted remains in 3rd, while Bookie_Handicap has continued its surge from the very bottom of the ladder to now lie in 4th, its elevation a reflection of the stark improvement in the TAB bookmaker's margin handicapping since about the middle of the season.

That improvement is also reflected in the line market performances of the Margin Predictors where we now find that most have records no better than about 51% to 54% for the season.

Probability scores for all five Head-to-Head Probability Predictors were all similarly high this weekend, which left their ordering on the MoS Leaderboard unchanged.
