2011 MARS Ratings After Finals Week 1

Collingwood did little to boost its MARS Rating this week, beating the Eagles by just 20 points on Saturday to inch up their Rating by just 0.1 Ratings Points. Geelong though, in defeating the Hawks by 31 points on Friday night, grabbed just over 2 Ratings Points to narrow the Ratings gap to the Pies to 7 Ratings Points.

In the two other contests, Sydney snatched 3 Ratings Points - as well as a semi-finals berth - from the Saints by defeating them by 25 points on Saturday, while Carlton pocketed the week's largest Ratings Points haul, 3.4 Ratings Points from the hapless Dons. The Saints loss was enough to drop them back into 6th position on the MARS Ratings ladder, allowing the Eagles to assume 5th.

So, Week 2 of the Finals will see Hawthorn, rated 1,036.5, taking on the Swans, rated 1,015.2, at the G on Friday night, and West Coast, rated 1,021.5, taking on the Blues, rated 1,033.2, at Subiaco on Saturday. It'll be fascinating to see whether the Eagles or the Blues start as favourites in that game.
