MatterOfStats 2022 : Team Dashboard for Round 2

The Ranking on Dashboard Metrics data, which appears below, shows positive correlations between all of the Metrics and teams’ Ladder Position, although not to any extraordinary extent except for Expected Wins based on the MoS Win Production Function that seems to still be relevant despite having been calibrated a dozen years ago.

At this early stage, perhaps all it shows that might be of some interest is the Cats’ inability to prevent opponents from creating highly convertible opportunities, and the Blues’ struggles in Q3s.

The full Team Dashboard appears below. Maybe the most interesting statistic shown here is that one-third of the teams are currently 2 and 0, one-third 1 and 1, and one-third 0 and 2.

There are also some fairly skewed team quarter-by-quarter profiles - for example Port Adelaide’s having scored 82% of its points in Q2 and Q3 - but it’s probably wise not to make too much of these after only two games.
