MatterOfStats 2022 : Team Dashboard for Round 10

The Ranking on Dashboard Metrics data appears below and reveals how starkly unimportant Scoring Shot Conversion has been so far this season in that four of the nine lowest-ranked teams on this metric are currently in the Top 8 on the ladder, and the two teams on equal-sixth on the metric sit in 17th and 18th spots.

The full Team Dashboard appears below and shows that, amongst other things:

  • Geelong have converted only 48% of their scoring shots into goals, but allowed their opponents to convert at around 58%

  • Conversely, Richmond has converted at 57% but allowed their opponents to convert at only 47%, and Brisbane Lions has converted at 64% but allowed their opponents to convert at only 51%

  • West Coast are still yet to win a Q2

  • GWS have scored 63% and Carlton 60% of their points in the 1st half of games

  • West Coast have scored 62% and St Kilda 58% of their points in the 2nd half of games. West Coast have also scored only 16% of their points in Q2s where they, consequently, have only a 32 percentage

  • Melbourne have more than doubled their opponents’ score in Q1s, and are the only team with a percentage above 200 for any single quarter

  • Brisbane Lions, Fremantle, Geelong, and Melbourne are the only teams to have outscored their opponents in each of the four quarters taken separately

  • North Melbourne and West Coast are the only teams to have been outscored by their opponents in each of the four quarters taken separately

  • Fremantle, who are 4th on the ladder, have scored fewer goals than every other team in the Top 8, and fewer also than four other teams outside the Top 8

  • Only five teams have a winning streak of two games or more

  • Only three teams have a winning streak of three games or more

  • Only five teams have a losing streak of two games or more, and that includes the last four teams on the ladder
