MatterOfStats 2014 : Team Dashboard for Round 13

This week's Team Dashboard reveals an unusual feature of this week's results: four of the teams currently in the Top 8 recorded losses and only one of those losses (Port Adelaide's) was to another team in the Top 8.

Essendon's remarkable loss to Melbourne, which snapped a two-game winning streak for the Dons and a two-game losing streak for the Dees, meant that the Gold Coast clung onto 8th spot despite themselves slipping to a third straight loss.

Meantime Sydney extended its winning streak to 8 games, Fremantle extended theirs to 4, Hawthorn stretched their own to 3, and Geelong put together a second win in a row. No other team in the competition has a winning streak extending beyond a single game. As well, only four teams have losing streaks of longer than a single game: St Kilda (7), Richmond (3), Carlton (3) and Gold Coast (also 3, as mentioned earlier).

Ten teams, therefore, this week recorded a result that was the opposite of their result in the previous round, Round 11. That's the equal-highest number of teams we've had in that position after any single round this season.
