2016 - Round 14 Results - Almost Perfect

But for a nine-goal final term in the Giants v Blues game, Investors would have been successful with all nine wagers this weekend. That said, two other Over/Under wagers were just a kick away from moving into the "loss" column, so the balance of the luck probably tilted in our direction.

As it was, the Head-to-Head Fund landed both of its wagers, returning a 3.1c gain, its first black ink since Round 4, and the Line Fund landed both of its wagers too, rising by 3.4c and making it now 11 of 14 rounds in which it's returned a profit. The Overs/Unders Fund guessed correctly four times out of five to record a 5.2c profit and to move back into profit for the season as a whole for the first time since Round 11.

Combined, the three Funds pushed the Overall Portfolio higher by 3.6c, leaving it now up by 18.5c on the season with a 15.4% ROI on a turn of 1.2.

TIPS AND PREDICTIONS

As pleased as I've been with the performance of the ChiPS System of forecasters this year, I was happy to see the MoSSBODS forecasters break out of a recent form slump this week to record the equal second-highest score on head-to-head tipping, the lowest mean absolute error (MAE) on margin prediction, and the second-highest probability score.

Best amongst the Head-to-Head Tipsters was Home Sweet Home after all six of the home teams grabbed the competition points this week, including the underdog Saints. MoSSBODS_Marg and BKB did next best, bagging five each to leave them still filling the top two places on the Leaderboard, MoSSBODS_Marg's 92 from 120 (77%) seeing it remain two tips ahead of BKB's 90 from 120 (75%). The all-Predictor average this week was 4.4 from 6.

MoSSBODS_Marg, as already mentioned, turned in the week's low MAE of 23.8 points per game, slightly better than C_Marg's 24.6 points per game, though this latter performance was good enough to leave C_Marg perched atop the Leaderboard, now almost 89 points clear of the 2nd-placed Bookie_LPSO. C_Marg has been there now for five weeks.

MoSSBODS_Marg's performance moved it up into 6th place, its highest ranking since Round 10.

The all-Predictor MAE for the week was 26.4 points per game.

Also of note is the fact that all 11 of the Margin Predictors for whom it makes sense to make the claim, now have a profitable record on line betting, best amongst them MoSSBODS_Marg and Bookie_LPSO who both have picked correctly in 60% of the contests.

Probability scores for all five of the MoS Head-to-Head Probability Predictors were very similar this week, though C_Prob's was fractionally best, slightly superior to MoSSBODS_Prob's. Overall, C_Prob still sits in 1st position and MoSSBODS_Prob in 5th.
