MatterOfStats 2015 : Team Dashboard for Round 16
You'd think, by now, with six wins on the trot, Hawthorn's winning rate would have moved into alignment with what the MoS Win Production Function (WPF) says it ought to be. But the Hawks keep winning so convincingly, improving their Scoring Shot data as they do so, that they've still two wins fewer than what the WPF assesses they should have.
Collingwood's situation is quite similar to Hawthorn's, their data also suggesting they might reasonably have won about two more games than they have so far.
Fremantle, conversely, have been doing just enough to win of late (though last week, not nearly enough) and so find themselves assessed as having won almost two-and-a-half games more than their Scoring Shot data suggests they might reasonably lay claim to.
Eight other teams have won about one game more than they "should" have: Adelaide, Geelong, GWS, the Kangaroos, Melbourne, Richmond, Sydney and the Western Bulldogs. Three other teams have won about one game fewer than they "should": Gold Coast, Port Adelaide and West Coast.
Losses by the Dogs and the Swans this week left only West Coast, Hawthorn and Richmond with winning streaks extending beyond two weeks, while losses for Collingwood, Carlton and the Brisbane Lions left them as the only teams with losing streaks of the same length.
